Located
in the serene surroundings of the preserve is a log cabin filled with everything
needed for the inspiration and completion of
your next musical project. The sound in a log cabin is unique. The round log wall combined with the high ceilings gives an
ambience that can only be
attained in this unique environment. The drums sound rich and full.
The piano sings with excitement when played. Guitars, wind instruments,
even vocals take on a new life in these unique surroundings.
Studio Tour
The piano is a Yamaha G9 and is the centerpiece of the studio.
Instead of being locked in a soundproof room , the sound is allowed to
breathe
and expand. For the benefit of the player there are windows to look out
and air to breathe to add to the inspiration while playing.
"One of the best sounding pianos I have played" Jeff Franzell
while recording sessions with the Navigators.
There is a separate sound room for special applications. If
separation is needed for vocals, wind instruments or even a full drum
kit we can fit them comfortably in their own private area.
Our Recording is done on a Mac G9 using Steinberg software. We
have found CuBase to be superior to Pro-tools because the system is
non-proprietary, allowing us options in our recording environment.
We can work with files from most software manufacturers whether they be Aiff
or Wav.
The
Soundboard is a Ghost by Soundcraft. We use this because of the
warmth of the preamps and the pathing options available. A great
headphone mix is sometimes the difference between a great and just OK
performance.
A set of Pearl Drums, Fender P-bass and a Jazz bass,
Hammond organ, Congas, percussion instruments and guitar amps round out
the studio. Ovations, Gibsons, Stratocasters, even Banjos
can be found hanging around on the walls of the studio. We try to
fill whatever need is possible. With enough lead time we can set
up the studio for any type of recording.
